This article explains how the orange wire on REDARC BCDC Classic and Core chargers is used to set the maximum charging voltage.
Leaving it disconnected selects Profile A (14.6V), connecting it to ground selects Profile B (15.0V), connecting it to the red input wire selects the Heated Lithium profile (14.2V), and connecting it to the green wire selects the Lithium profile (14.2V).
Users must always check their battery manufacturer’s recommended charging voltage to avoid overcharging.
REDARC recommends seeking the support of a qualified auto electrician or technician.

This information is applicable to the following products:
- BCDC Classic range (BCDC1225D, BCDC1240D, BCDC1250D)
- BCDC Trailer range (BCDC1212S, BCDC1212T)
How will this appear?
The BCDC Classic and Core Orange wire is used to select maximum output voltage. This can be achieved by connecting in the following way.
- To select Profile A leave the ORANGE wire disconnected. This will set the Maximum voltage to 14.6V.
- To select Profile B connect the ORANGE wire to Common Ground. This will set the Maximum voltage to 15.0V
- To select Profile H connect the ORANGE wire to the RED wire (Input source positive). This will set the Heated Lithium profile to 14.2v.
- To select the Lithium Profile (Li) connect the ORANGE wire to the GREEN wire. This will set the charger to Lithium mode 14.2v.
It is important to ensure that you check the manufacturer’s recommend charge voltage to ensure the profile you select does not exceed the manufacturers recommended maximum charging voltage. If the maximum voltage is too high for your battery type please select another charging profile.
